We Are Going To Support The Young Guns! Says Loud Mouth Ed!
Rather than focus on the old men of the European Tour, we want to follow the new kids on the block. There are a few obvious candidates for our attention but I’ve also found one or two in the pipeline who are going for their cards this year. Let’s see how they get on!
If they don’t make it, we can just dump ‘em and chuck someone else in!!
Oliver Fisher!
Youngest Englishman to win a European tour card! He was also the youngest ever player in The Walker Cup, at 16.
Oli has played his first full year on the man tour and has kept his card. This is a great achievement!
Zane Scotland!
Played just 6 events on invitations and qualifying for the French Open, sufficient to win his full playing rights for next year! A fourth place finish in the star-packed field of The British Masters confirmed the feat!
Zane was the youngest player ever to play in The Open in 1999, aged just 16.
Rory McIlroy!
Now the youngest player ever to win a tour card at 18, he sealed the deal with a breathtaking 3rd place at The Alfred Dunhill Links Trophy.
Hugely talented, if you like your golf exciting he will be your man for years to come!
And now for a few you may not know!
James Heath!
Challenge Tour graduate from last year but having to work hard to keep his card. Bundles of ability and promise – he will make it big soon!
Robert Dinwiddie!
Best kept secret! Has the best amateur record you will ever come across and has won twice on the Challenge Tour this year. Full tour beckons in 2008.
Ross McGowan!
Another top amateur performer who has been terrific on The Challenge Tour this year. Had a good run at the Portuguese Open too this year.
So guys and girls, any ‘fore ums’ about these guys will get my attention! There is a nice debate going started by Josh already, if you want to check it out.

Major amateur events should only have one round per day
