KAMYER CONQUERS TOP FIELD TO CLAIM FIRST WIN
Rookie of last year, Martin Kaymer, proved it was no fluke by claiming his first title on the European Tour in Abu Dhabi. Kaymer dominated the event from start to finish and although the last day wasn't plain sailing, he was the outstanding player in the tournament.
This is good news for the Tour as a whole, as a new generation of exciting players are coming through to replace the old guard. It will be far more interesting to watch the newcomers fight it out for titles, rather than the same old faces. Last year had many first time winners and this year hopefully willfollow suit.
Kaymer must now look to cement his place as a top player on the Tour and wait for a few other young guns to join him. He will doubtless now have an eye on the Ryder Cup later this year.
