STORIES FROM SCHOOL!
San Roque was up to it's usual tricks again this year! The top thirty would be on the receiving end of a nice European Tour card and all the trappings that go with it!
70 players make the cut and are guaranteed a full Challenge Tour card. They then play two more rounds for the big prize. Have a look at this for a statistic!
Old course, stroke average, day 5 = 71.3
New course, stroke average, day 6 = 74.5
The New Course had played about a shot easier over the first four rounds.
To be fair it was a bit windier on the final day but the pressure definitely told for some players nevertheless!!
One guy I was happy to see do well was Lee Slattery. Lee lost his card by about £50! must have been pretty frustrating. He pulled himself together quickly enough to do the business and get back where he belongs. Another good story was Patrick Sjoland. Starting the day 5 shots off the pace, he shot 4 under in the toughest conditions all week. A former Tour winner, he showed that the cream rises and that nerve is such a key part of golf.
