WALKER CUPPERS SUFFER AT SCHOOL
This weekend saw the end of stage two of European Tour School and the end of most of this year's Walker Cup players' aspirations.
Llewelyn Matthews, Jamie Moul, David Horsey, Lloyd Saltman, John Parry and Rhys Davies have all failed to qualify for San Roque, leaving Rory McIlroy as the only team member who will play on the main tour next year.
This does demonstrate just how big a void there is between amateur and professional golf. You may believe that these stars will come good in the end but recent trends suggest otherwise. A look back at the last Walker Cup in 2006 shows that only two of that team will definitely play Tour golf next year, Fisher and Dinwiddie, with Lockerbie re-visiting San Roque next week to try and regain his place.
Tough world isn't it?
