25 UNDER WINS! BUT IS IT GOOD FOR GOLF?
Steve Webster produced a birdie blitz for four days to win the Portugal Masters, recording an astounding 25 under final score. The question is whether this is good for golf?
Golf is an entertainment, that is certain but do we prefer a tough course, with thick rough and pars being applauded or a putting competition, as some would call it? I think we probably enjoy both. As long as golf doesn't go one way or the other too much, we can enjoy the US Open style concentration-testing slog and the feast of eagles and birdies produced on more 'resort' style courses. Incidently, i don't think these are just putting contests - you still need to hit fairways and greens to give yourself the chances.
Well done Steve, whatever you think! He's had a tough time recently and we are delighted for him. The 8th Englishman to win this year too, the most for any country,
so, 'WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!'
