I believe that a round of golf should take no longer than 4 hours, however some tournaments that i play in take up to 5 hours! Is this too long?
yes i think that a golf round should take no longer than 4 hours. when a group is looking for a ball they should let the group behind hit up this makes sure that the play doesnt get held up and flows nicley!!! x
It's always a difficult one to judge. I recently played in a better-ball competition where everyone was in every hole, bar one. So that's 4 people putting out on 17 holes. It took over 4 and three quarter hours, but it was a great game. A few people complained, but I can live with that. When playing in two's, with no hold ups through weather or other reasons, I would say 3 3/4 to 4 hours is plenty.
No...holdups happen, especially in tournament golf. Its something that as a player, you just have to learn to deal with it
NO!
Play properly! If you have poor conditions or tough holes, extra time is needed.
I think the rules are close to spot on, if you lose a hole, you're on the clock but the limits set at national amateur, especially junior, tournaments are a joke - you can't play properly in 4 hours in a 3 ball on a decent course - look at pro events, minimum 5 hours for 3 balls.

Major amateur events should only have one round per day
