Coaches' Corner
Psycho Sid
Sid is highly qualified to coach on the psyche side of golf, as he not only has more letters after his name than the average Oxford professor but he is also described by friends as being 'a pork pie short of a picnic'.
Expect neurosis, psychosis and a little hypnosis - golf is 80% mental; and so is Sid!
MISSING ON THE LOW SIDE!
To answer a question from the forum section, why do so many putts miss on the low side?
firstly, do you know they use the terms missing on 'amateur' and 'pro' sides? amateur means the low side!
Don't start to worry - these terms are misleading! Pro's miss 75% of their putts on the low side too!
I see 2 reasons;
1. On a breaking putt, people look up at the hole. This means your brain thinks your alignment is off and corrects it without you knowing! Guess what - you hit it straighter and miss low!
2. Lack of confidence. When you are not putting well, it is a 'safer' bet to hit it straighter - you have lost the faith in reading the greens well and won't hit it out to the breaking point. You will always miss low!
See which applies to you Louie?
